The Synopsis

How does a bubble-blowing dragon make his very first friend?

In the magical land of Lickitypop, Dibs the Dragon hears a tiny cry for help from the sticky syrup swamp and

discovers Mooch, a marshmallow mole who is very, very stuck. With a licorice vine, a bit of bravery, and a

whole lot of heart, Dibs leaps into action—and begins a friendship that will change everything.

This gentle, whimsical picture book is filled with kindness, imagination, and cozy read-aloud moments that

celebrate the joy of helping others and the magic of making friends.

Whether you’re a parent, teacher, librarian, or cozy-color enthusiast, this sweet story is sure to become a

beloved favorite on your shelf—and a magical introduction to the Lickitypop series.

The Review

This was such a heartwarming and engaging children’s book. The world-building in this narrative is top-notch, with imaginative and fun character designs for the protagonists and wild settings that feel like an extension of the Candyland board game people have loved playing for years. The fast-paced narrative was perfect for children as well, giving young readers a world they could easily get lost in.

The story’s main themes were well represented in this narrative. The way the characters confront loneliness, the benefits of friendship, and how friendship can come from the most unexpected of places gave the story an added layer of realism that brought the magical and fun elements to all-new heights. The bond between Dibs and Mooch is instant, and it quickly draws young readers into the book.

The Verdict

Heartfelt, fun, and engaging, author Ellie Moss’s “Dibs the Dragon and the Marshmallow Rescue” is a must-read children’s book. The bright illustrations, the heartfelt message, and the wonderful magic will not only drive young readers to this brand-new series but also give older readers a return to a more magical, brighter time in their lives. If you haven’t yet, be sure to grab your copy today!
