The Review

This was an informative and compelling read. The knowledge and insight into the world of Eastern Medicine and acupuncture as a whole were fantastic to see explored in this book, and the personable way the author wrote allowed the reader to feel connected to the material being shared.

To me, the heart of this story was in out-of-the-box approaches to modern acupuncture the author takes when developing this new technique, as well as the history that the author explores in traditional acupuncture. The attention to detail the author pays to the development process and the way the Eastern Medicine field has evolved and grown over time allows the author’s work to feel fresh, innovative, and the future of the industry.

The Verdict

Insightful, engaging, and thoughtful, author Yadi Alamin’s “Hacking Acupuncture (without Needles)” is a must-read nonfiction book on Eastern Medicine that every reader should pick up for themselves. The information and knowledge, as well as the unique perspective on Eastern Medicine versus Western Medicine, made this a compelling read. If you haven’t yet, be sure to grab your copy today!

The Review

This was a compelling and engaging collection of poetry. The author’s unique writing style does a great job of crafting poetry that both speaks to us emotionally and touches upon great themes while also providing a captivating story that the reader can get lost in. The imagery that the author used in these poems was fantastic, allowing the reader to feel and visualize the gothic elements of the poems themselves coming to life on the page.

The heart of this narrative was the marriage of gothic storytelling and impactful themes that relate to our modern world. From tales of modern dating and the habit of ignoring immediate red flags, to the horror of being driven by uncontrolled nature, this collection was magnificent. The way the author explores vampire lore from both the perspective of the people enthralled by vampires and the vampires themselves makes this equally memorable.

The Verdict

Heartfelt, fast-paced, and thrilling, author LindaAnn LoSchiavo’s “Vampire Ventures” is a must-read poetry collection and just in time for the fall/spooky season. The powerful imagery and fabulous blend of vampire lore and strong themes made this a compelling collection that readers will return to time and time again. The Synopsis

Trevor couldn’t fly. Not even a little bit. That wouldn’t be a huge deal, except for one thing. Winter. It was awfully cold in Canada during the winter, and Trevor didn’t enjoy the snow and ice. Not one little bit. When it came time to migrate south for the winter, Trevor couldn’t go. He was stuck in Canada all by himself. Alone. Until it started to get warmer, and all his friends returned from their journey. However, this year would be different.

Trevor was determined to learn to fly; one way or another, he would make it happen!

The Review

This was a fantastic and well-illustrated children’s book. The beautiful animation style of the art itself brought the warmth and emotional core of the story and Trevor as a character to life perfectly. The fast-paced story and the engaging narrative will bring children and parents together perfectly.

The authors did a phenomenal job of bringing a heartfelt story to life, playing on the themes of loneliness and facing adversity considerably through Trevor as both a character and his story. The way Trevor fights to overcome his fear of flight and the unexpected obstacles that land in his path to make him stumble on his path showcases the strength and courage he had to face those adversities and strive to be better, making this an inspiring children’s tale.

The Verdict

Authors Ben Jackson & Sam Lawrence’s “Trevor Takes Flight” is a must-read children’s book that is gripping, engaging, and thoughtfully written. The captivating artwork and the memorable story will engage young readers’ minds and bring families together as they see the young goose in this story overcoming his fears. Matcha Green Tea by Purlisse

The Review

Yet another compelling and enthralling children’s book read from this dynamic author duo. The authors do an incredible job of giving each character their own moment to shine, and the cool illustrations help highlight both the coldness of the ice rink and the cool nature of ghosts and the supernatural as a whole.

To me, the heart of this narrative rested on the overall theme of being true to oneself and to finding our passions in life. The story is great for both parents and kids alike, as it shows children how to stay true to themselves while allowing parents who may not already subscribe to the idea that giving their children room to grow and find their passions in life is the best way to see them thrive.

The Verdict

Memorable, heartfelt, and entertaining, authors Ben Jackson and Sam Lawrence’s “Ghosts Can’t Play Hockey” is a must-read children’s book and a truly creative tale. The focus on not only Bruce and his dream of hockey, but his relationship with his father as well made this such a well-told story that readers won’t be able to stay away from for long. The Review

This was a compelling and thought-provoking read. The concepts the author had brought into this book were subjects I myself had been fascinated with for years. From the simulation theory that the author touches upon to the matrix theory that has seen some mind-blowing videos and evidence that makes us all feel like life is a simulation fascinating. The author wrote this book in a way that felt relatable and challenged the reader to delve deep within themselves to question their relationship to reality itself.

The use of a film such as the Truman Show was a great vehicle to delve into this topic. The great point that was made in this book was that this film was the true definition of reality TV, as most reality TV in our own culture has the people aware of their situation and thus the shows feel scripted at times, whereas this film showcases the reality of a man unaware of his simulated life. This speaks to us all, with the way life becomes out of control, and oftentimes feels like it is targeting us specifically really playing into this theory perfectly.

The Verdict

Memorable, captivating, and engaging, author Stephen Davis’s “The Truman Show: It’s True, Man!”, is a must-read nonfiction book on philosophy and metaphysical theories that cannot be missed. The honest expression of ideas and concepts the author explores from an everyday lens and the compelling story these theories bring to life make this a thoughtful read to get lost in. About the Author

My name is Stephen Davis… and I usually stop there, because who I am is really not that important.

But since you seem to be curious…

I was born and raised in Wilmington, Delaware. I have a B.S. in Political Science, an M.S. in Psychology, and a Doctor of Divinity degree.

And my life has been full of interesting and challenging experiences.

I began my “spiritual journey” at age 19, after reading “There is a River” by Thomas Sugrue. It is the biography of Edgar Cayce, and I immediately went to work for his son, Hugh Lynn, at the Association of Research and Enlightenment.

Then, in chronological order, I was:

~ Drummer, pianist, bassist, and musical director for “Up With People” when it first started.

~ Physician’s Assistant in the U.S. Army, including a year in Vietnam.

~ Commercial pilot for Cochise Airlines in Arizona.

~ State Senator from District 9 (Tucson) in Arizona. (In 1975, I was awarded the George Washington Medal of Honor from Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge for my article, “The Government Versus the Economy,” published in Parade Magazine).

~ Commodore’s Staff Aide to L. Ron Hubbard in Scientology, and founder and first president of the World Institute of Scientology Enterprises (WISE).

~ Director of Development and teaching faculty at Sherman College of Straight Chiropractic, where I wrote my first book, “Practice Management Made Easy.”

~ Author of computer software to run a chiropractic office.

~ Losing candidate for the U.S. Senate in South Carolina (Strom Thurmond beat me when he was 82 years old!).

~ Horse trainer and ranch manager for a buckskin breeding ranch in Arizona.

~ Cook and captain of an 80-foot whale and dolphin research ship (the “Kairos”) in the Canary Islands.

~ Author of an award-winning screenplay and two books (novels) based on ten years of research proving that HIV cannot be the cause of AIDS (“Wrongful Death: The AIDS Trial”), and that the so-called HIV tests can have false positive results as much as 90% of the time (“Are You Positive?”).

I had a car accident that broke my neck in 2003, and since then I have been taking it “easy,” writing “Butterflies Are Free to Fly” in 2008 and delivering my Holographic Universe Workshops all over the world. (Quantum physics has been my “hobby” for almost 30 years.) I am really honored that so many people have downloaded (and read, I hope!) this book.

I’M 77 years old with a wonderful family, including three amazing grandchildren.

I had two wonderful wives (15 years each), but I am now single and living in North Carolina.

The Gods Who Want to Die by Luke McCamley Review

A woman must navigate her way through a dangerous cult and the killer going after them in author Luke McCamley’s “The Gods Who Want To Die”.

Take a Food Journey Around the World!

The Synopsis

A devoted mother is torn between love of family, and loyalty to a religious cult leader whose demands become increasingly bizarre-and deadly.

To all appearances, Shelly Grinstead is a happily married woman with three children. But appearances can be deceiving. There’s a dark past behind her, and a greater darkness looms ahead. Shelly is a firm believer in Necrotheism, a religious cult that helps immortal gods end their lives through the ceremonial mock-deaths of cult members. The only problem is, the latest deaths aren’t just ceremonial; they’re real. Someone is killing those who kill the gods, and no one knows who, or what, or how to stop it.

Shelly is also in love with cult leader Magnolia Blanchot, whose increasingly bizarre demands threaten to rip Shelly’s family apart. The police are just as bad in their own way, blackmailing Shelly’s son into playing bait for the killer. Whether that killer be god or man, Shelly’s not sure.

When tragedy strikes close to home, Shelly is forced to choose between loyalty and betrayal, faith and disbelief, life and death-before her tenuous grip on reality slips away….

Matcha Green Tea by Purlisse

The Review

This was a gritty, yet wonderful blend of dark psychological horror and fantasy. The harsh realities of cult life and the psychological trauma and mind games that occur for people lost in these groups were extensively explored in this novel, allowing the more fantastic and supernatural elements of the mythos of this world to feel grounded and engaging to readers.

The author did a remarkable job capturing gripping character development and vivid imagery in this novel. The passionate and cruel reality of protagonist Shelly and her situation within the cult and her family really highlights the horror of this storyline and the depth of the world-building that went into the author’s narrative, allowing the gripping psychological drama to take hold in the reader’s mind.

The Verdict

Memorable, captivating, and entertaining, author Luke McCamley’s “The Gods Who Want To Die” is a must-read psychological horror and fantasy read. The twists and turns in the narrative, the grim horrors that the author brings to life through captivating detail, and thoughtful looks into the narrative made this a brilliant read. Matcha Green Tea by Purlisse

The Review

For so long, questions of reality and the idea of what the human mind is capable of have been strictly regulated to philosophy and spiritualism. Ideas of life after death, shaping reality with our minds, and perceiving worlds that exist just outside of our own have been the stuff of supernatural novels and spooky stories. Yet the author has truly found a transformative and engaging way of bringing these ideas and concepts to life in a more grounded, scientific language.

The way the author was able to balance the philosophical and spiritual nature of these concepts with the scientific and critical thinking that the author brings to the table was fantastic to see come to life. The amount of research and development that went into these theories, especially the sunset conjecture, was great to see executed in this book. The idea of the mind being a vast universe and ideas and thoughts becoming images and real objects within these mindscapes was a refreshing way to speak about these topics.

The Verdict

Memorable, thoughtful, and engaging, author Clement Decrop’s “The Idea Space” is a must-read nonfiction book of philosophy and scientific theory. The almost esoteric concepts the author touched upon and the compelling, interactive nature of the book itself will stay with readers long after the final page. The Diomedeia: Diomedes, the People of the Sea, and the Fall of the Hittite Empire by Gregory Michael Nixon Review

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review. All opinions are my own.

The story of legendary hero Diomedes grows in this never before told story from author Gregory Michael Nixon, “The Diomedeia”.

Take a Food Journey Around the World!

The Synopsis

A historically-based novel with authentic, legendary, & fictional characters interacting across the extraordinary panorama of the Bronze Age Collapse in the Hittite Empire between the Aegean and eastern Mediterranean seas. Diomedes, previously a hero of the Trojan War, and the polyglot Peoples of the Sea raid inland into the Hittite Empire during its final months. It is both a study of ancient mythic consciousness and an exciting adventure of love, character, destruction, desperate survival, and the lived mystery of pagan rituals. It was a time of such chaos, royalty was overthrown, palaces and temples were burnt, and the power of the gods was thrown into doubt, yet the ancient Great Goddess, who had been suppressed, began to regain her former dominance.

Diomedes, though prominent in Homer’s Iliad — a warrior the equal of Hektor or Achilleus, a thinker as cunning as Odysseus and as wise as Nestor, and the only man who dared wound gods — has seldom, if ever, been the chief protagonist in literature. He is given his due within. His own wandering adventures and suffering after the destruction of Ilios are traced as far north as Kolkhis (Colchis) in the Black Sea, through involvement with the last Hittite royal family in Anatolia, and as far south as Alasiya (Cyprus) in the Mediterranean. He ascends the heights of glory but also must descend into the dark Underworld in the attempt to save the one he loves.

The Review

This was a compelling, gripping ancient historical fiction read. As a longtime enthusiast in regards to Ancient Greek mythology and history, it was so fascinating to see the unique balance the author found between the educational, historical facts and mannerisms from the people of that era, with the exploration of mythology and the impact that belief system had on the people and their culture back in that era, including the reintroduction of the Triple Goddess and her role in people’s lives.

To me, the grand scale of the adventure and the depth of character that was found in Diomedes as a character was so powerful to read. The way the author was able to create a modern-day Iliad while still finding the tone and heart of what made Homer’s work so profound in that era was amazing, as was the complex mindset and actions of Diomedes as a whole. The attention to detail on the actions and culture of that historical period allowed the reader to feel pleasantly lost in that time, crafting a narrative that felt real and engaging.

The Verdict

Legendary, captivating, and entertaining, author Gregory Michael Nixon’s “The Diomedeia” is a must-read historical fiction read. The twists and turns in the narrative, the grand scale of the journey of Diomedes as a whole, and the thought-provoking story will stay with readers long after the final page has turned. About the Author

I have been writing all my life, beginning in our small town in Saskatchewan. Most my adult life was spent as university professor, so my publishing to this point had all been academic (but still accomplished). As an avocation, in my off hours I studied the Mycenaean era of Ancient Greece, as well as theories of myth & ritual and the mythic mind. Once I retired, I returned to a novelistic venture I had been dreaming of since reading Homer’s Iliad at 15 years old: bringing to life the further adventures of the hero, Diomedes. When at last I dedicated myself to novel writing two years ago, my dream was reinvigorated. However, my characters insisted on entering the Hittite Empire, probably because its capital, Hattusa, came down in flames only a few years after Troy (Ilios). I followed their wishes and brought Hittite royalty into my tale, including Suppiluliuma II, the last of the Great Kings. I immersed myself in Hittite studies, and finally this unusual book emerged — an historical fiction with a strong portrayal of mythic consciousness at the time of the Bronze Age collapse..
