The Review

This was a thought-provoking and engaging read. The author presents a unique concept of a much more cosmic and metaphysical spiritual nature to the world than the institutions established throughout human history would have people believe. The thoroughness with which the author delves into the spiritual journey and path that lightworkers are on was insightful and thought-provoking, allowing the reader to delve into this discussion with eyes wide open.

The aspect of the book that spoke to me was the idea that what people think of when they think of God is merely a creation born out of a collective consciousness, something my paranormal investigative team and I have discussed before as part of the quantum consciousness. The amount of detail and philosophical discussion the book engages the reader in allows for a challenge to institutional ideas of spiritualism and finds a means of connecting scientific nature with spiritual discussion that readers can genuinely connect with.

Spring 2023

The Verdict

A thrilling and educational guide to a new school of thought for spiritualism, author Jean-Claude Koven’s “Believe Nothing, Know Nothing” is a must-read book that will expand the mind and question everything. The exploration of ideas like the holographic universe theory or quantum consciousness invites readers to truly commit to electing their awareness and explore a healthy amount of history, philosophy, science, and mythology simultaneously. The Review

Immediately, I found myself enthralled with this book. The author did an excellent job of finding the perfect balance between the travel narrative and the journey’s more personal, philosophical, and insightful aspects. The honesty and depth of detail the author conveyed in such a short read were terrific to see come to life.

The author’s narrative choice was the biggest thing that set the book apart from other travel or philosophy books. Thanks to a journal-writing style, the author allowed the reader to experience the journey as he did. The approach to each location was unique, too, for the author could hone in on the spiritual and philosophical side of things rather than the surface touristy stuff that so many others see every day.

The Verdict

Heartfelt, insightful, and meaningful author B. Johny’s “The Candid Odyssey” is a must-read travel-meets-philosophy book. The author’s trials, from a night spent in a train compartment to the near assault he faced and more, as well as the profound lessons on happiness found in accidental moments and the value of authenticity in life as a whole, made this a compelling read. The Review

What a delightful, impactful read. The author does an incredible job of weaving together a heartfelt story of a young woman discovering her impact on the world and our power to shape reality as we see it. The emotional connection shared between Lisa and her grandfather and the philosophical and equally emotional conversations that spark this book’s journey will resonate with young readers and anyone looking for a more spiritual or intellectual journey through life.

The author’s creativity in developing a fictional story that can be used as a guide through a mental, spiritual, and emotional journey of self-made this a compelling narrative. The lessons taught throughout these characters’ stories were incredible, from each person having their own “reality” to learning to forgive yourself and others, following your dreams, and more, and the impact we can have on one another was remarkably demonstrated throughout this story.

The Verdict

Memorable, heartfelt, and insightful author Machiel Hoek’s “The Girl Who Changed the World” is a deeply personal and inspiring read. The metaphysical YA novel melds ideas of philosophy and spirituality together eloquently. Live life forward in confidence, afterwards everything will fall into place. In other words, It all makes sense, everything is correct. I live and do business from this vision. I like to keep it simple, because it doesn’t have to be complicated. Improving the world is something I like to contribute to.

It’s the deeper layers in life that intrigue me. What drives us and why do we do things the way we do? Over the years I have received my answers to these questions and with this I help people, entrepreneurs, on their way to a life based on trust and relaxation.

Originally I come from the analytical financial world, the people around me always liked it if I could give them new insights when they got stuck on personal / business issues. As a partner at a real estate company and at my current company, I have always been able to use my connecting and coaching skills in conflicts or misunderstandings to bring parties closer together for good cooperation. From my vision that the world is a mirror of yourself, we always come to very enlightening insights and solutions.

It often turns out that private and business overlap, can strengthen each other, but can also weaken if there is an imbalance in one of the two.

From all the training I have done in the field of personal development, coaching and mediation, I have developed my own approach. From all this knowledge, wisdom and life experience, my book ‘The girl who changed the world’ also emerged.

At IT ALL MAKES SENSE, Jennet and I both look at how we can make your life lighter and more relaxing together with you.

In the Throes by Mathias B. Freese Review

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review. All opinions are my own.

A creature that is the first of its kind discovers self-awareness and a passion for art in author Mathias B. Freese’s “In the Throes”.

Advertisements

The Synopsis

In the Throes explores the awakening of intelligence and the coming into awareness of an evolutionary mishap on a forbidding apocalyptic planet.

The story follows eponymic Gruff, the first linguistic/metaphysical awakener of his species, as he navigates identity, mentation, and ontology in relation to the Gruff’s natural prey: humankind.

Combining the writings of Freud and the spiritual truths of Krishnamurti, author Mathias B. Freese depicts the Gruff as an evolutionary dark creature—disfigured, maimed, instinct-driven, and grotesque—until he attains self-awareness and transforms into a self of artistic expression and wisdom.

As the title suggests, the reader identifies with self-struggle as it surges toward awakening and is moved by the apotheosis that closes the book. The nuanced theme: each one of us is an artist if only we take our selves in hand and construct a life of artistic expression. The closing chapters sing to us of Isak Dinesen’s observation that an artist is never poor.

A metaphor of the evolutionary self, In the Throes is a time-processed journey into awareness—our destiny as a species.

The Review

This was one of the most thought-provoking and philosophical sci-fi novels I’ve enjoyed reading. The rich blend of world-building, mythology, and philosophy allows the reader to get lost in this distant world. The story’s natural progression evenly matched the development of Gruff both as a character and as a specimen of his kind, exploring the development of sentient creatures overall in an entertaining yet thoughtful way.

Yet, it was Gruff’s evolution that stood out in this novel. Gruff’s way of thinking, the philosophical debate of instinct versus free will, and his awareness of himself and others around him made this story come to life on the page. The natural drive to create and be expressive was a fascinating approach to mankind’s creative voice, and how artists of one kind or another often dwell within us all spoke to the reader as they delved further and further into the story.

The Verdict

Remarkable, thoughtful, and engaging author Mathias B. Freese’s “In the Throes” is a must-read sci-fi and philosophy novel. The vivid imagery of this harsh landscape and alien world, mixed with the detailed look at Gruff and his species as a whole and the inner evolution that speaks to mankind’s evolution on Earth, helps illustrate how even the most lumbering, bestial creature can have the heart of a poet or storytelling waiting to be uncovered over time. Concerning Decay of the Human Race (Human Condition Trilogy) by Massimo Fantini Review

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review. All opinions are my own.

An island isolated from the world shows the perils of social evolution (or the lack thereof) in author Massimo Fantini’s “Concerning Decay of The Human Race), the third book in the Human Condition Trilogy.

The Synopsis

The small village of the Island of the Iguanas experiences the succession of different communities – sometimes forced to live together, sometimes taking over from a former generation. Each community possesses a culture and an assortment of certainties which it does not intend to give up, judging a priori the customs of those who preceded it as uncivilized or unreasonable.

Over the years, the community consolidates and grows, together with their prejudices, social injustices, and religious superstitions. The structural transformations of the village have repercussions on the ecosystem of the island which – starting as a protected nature reserve – becomes a hunting place, a tourist destination, and a favorable terrain for smugglers to exploit.

Thus, faced with the opportunity to adopt a new lifestyle – concerning principles of equality, safeguarding personal freedoms, and restoring the ancient harmony between man and nature – there are those who choose to follow the tested path of the government of man over man, which makes discrimination its founding principle, and those who choose to defy it. Social contrasts – delineated by origin, by social background, by acquired privileges – begin to arise within these communities, which are made up of heterogeneous families and members of different ages and ambitions.

Given the possibility to make a clean sweep of the past and rebuild the social fabric from scratch, will those who position themselves as leaders avoid the mistakes made by their predecessors or will they end up mechanically following the same steps laid out by human history?

The editing and translation of this book was done by Ian Zwaschka.

The Review

This was such a unique and compelling narrative. The author does a beautiful world-building in this book, allowing the reader to become immersed in this island world and develop such unique cultures and different communities. The imagery the author utilizes within the narrative brings this island setting to life in a vibrant way, allowing the narrative to come alive in the reader’s mind.

Yet, as with every fantastic book in this trilogy, the author soars when delving into the philosophy and themes behind this story. The tension that builds slowly over time as readers read how each generation on this island evolves and takes on the prejudices and judgments of those who came before speaks to the very cyclical nature of humanity in a social setting and how giving into the government’s role in our society plays a significant role in that, as bigotry and injustice, along with particular religious beliefs, tend to impact the laws and social settings the rest of the community must live in, leading to a significant disparity between social classes. The exploration of why some people can rise above the bigotry of the past while others remain seething in that hatred was so remarkable to behold.

Toy & Treat of the Month

The Verdict

Thought-provoking, insightful, and engaging author Massimo Fantini’s “Concerning Decay of The Human Race” is a must-read contemporary fiction narrative. The twists and turns in this island setting and the impeccable discussions of these themes drive the reader to make this a thoughtful and remarkable book. About the Author

Greetings, readers.

I am Massimo Fantini, an Italian author and free thinker, writing from my home in the hills just outside Bologna. In quiet moments, when I am not writing, I enjoy classical music, particularly orchestral works for violin and the Italian opera.

I graduated from a university in Bologna with a degree in civil engineering. However, the studies of my youth do not represent my life’s obsession—that is, delving into those realities which unite all members of the human race: suffering, frustrations, conflicts, and the human reactions to these. They are the events and forces that take every human as an innocent in the crib and twist and turn them into 8.1 billion unique (but intimately connected) forms.

In short, I am obsessed with exploring the intimate recesses of the human condition.

In 2018, entirely dissatisfied with my job, I sought a new form of expression. Thus, I began to write. Incessantly.

I experimented with many kinds of writing. How best to give my ideas form? Then, I found my voice through stories, giving life to characters who explore, triumph, and fail for us to watch.

In each installment of my Human Condition Trilogy, these same all-encompassing issues are approached from different directions, under different circumstances, and by different characters.

Echoing the sentiment of Heraclitus, no two people may look at the same problem, because it is different to each. From the old cynical Leonard in Concerning Fanaticism to young Tommaso (a character inspired by my own youth) in Concerning Intellectual Suicide, I tried to cast a light on a path that is a constant part of our lives, but also constantly shifting.

Through my writing, I encourage readers to find their own perspective on life. Rather than embracing the comfortable mold which society provides, like a goldfish “free” to swim around in its little bowl, I hope my readers can use my books as a steppingstone toward their own unique way of thinking. And then, I wish them the freedom to pursue it.

Art is wonderful because it is a representation of what we otherwise cannot express. I seek not to provide myself and my readers with a mere distraction (what so often passes for “entertainment”). Not a hole in which to stick our heads for a few hours, only to emerge weakened and even less able to face our reality. Rather, I offer up a representation of our shared condition.

Concerning Fanaticism in The Human Race (Human Condition Trilogy) by Massimo Fantini Review

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review. All opinions are my own.

A seemingly simple law dispute turns into a gripping look into the human condition in author Massimo Fantini’s “Concerning Fanaticism in The Human Race”, the latest book in the Human Condition Trilogy.

Advertisements

The Synopsis

Elijah is a promising young lawyer, in love with his work and confident in the potential of the human race.

His law firm’s senior partner gives him his first important assignment. Elijah will have to follow the case of Leonard, an elderly engineer who lives in Montepastore, a small village in the Bolognese Apennines (Italy).

Leonard’s question concerns the supplementary contribution that engineers enrolled in the professional register are required to pay to Inarcassa, the Engineers’ Pension Fund. At first, the case seems simple. It was the subject of a previous ruling by the Court of Cassation. But Leonard is not satisfied with an institutional response. He wants to know why. He wants to know what hides behind the Supreme Court’s ruling.

Leonard’s demands grow meeting after meeting, and the subject of the dispute widens to include ethical, religious, and historical concerns.

As in the previous manuscripts, questions about the human condition are at the center of this philosophical debate. In the absence of answers, what is the point of writing about anything else?

The editing and translation of this book was done by Ian Zwaschka.

The Review

One of the most compelling questions a person can ask is whether or not to trust what is being told. The dialogue and character growth that the author brings to life on the page is rich and driven, allowing the reader to get lost in the narrative. The setting and atmosphere the author can develop and the mounting tension add to an already thoughtful story.

Yet the discussion and philosophical journey that readers are presented with makes this story so inviting. The ability to question authority and tackle mounting ethical dilemmas as they are presented to us delves into our philosophy and how we interact with religion, politics, and the human mind overall. The way the author presents this discussion to readers gets the reader’s minds working and does so without going over the line of being abstract, allowing the story to shine brightly.

Toy & Treat of the Month

The Verdict

Memorable, thoughtful, and gripping author Massimo Fantini’s “Concerning Fanaticism in the Human Race” is a must-read contemporary fiction that meets philosophical discussion. The twists in the narrative and the engaging character dynamics between Elijah and Leonard will keep readers on the edge of their seats while also looking inward at how we view blind faith and the ability to question authority for ourselves. Concerning Intellectual Suicide in the Human Race: a debate on the human condition by Massimo Fantini Review

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review. All opinions are my own.

Author Massimo Fantini delves into what drives people to switch off their brains and engage in irrational behavior in the book “Concerning Intellectual Suicide in the Human Race: a debate on the human condition”.

Advertisements

The Synopsis

Intellectual suicide corresponds to the more or less conscious decision to switch off the brain and renounce rational thought in favor of attitudes dictated by superstitions, by established habits, by prejudices, by common places. The effects of irrational choices – made with the brain switched off – can be devastating for oneself and for the others. Examples range from conformism, to religious superstitions, to ideological fundamentalism, just to name a few possibilities.

Tommaso, the protagonist of this debate, is the victim of his parents’ intellectual suicide, perpetrated through procreation. Procreation – the unilateral act by which a couple throws innocent individuals into the stillicidium of life, without weighing the consequences that the hell of existence will have on them – is the most heinous form of intellectual suicide in the human race, not least because of the scale of its consequences.

The author’s intention is to shine the spotlight on the one reality that unites us all, that accompanies our lives from birth until death, but which is casted to our periphery: the human condition.

The editing and translation of this book was done by Ian Zwaschka.

Grand Slam New York

The Review

This was a thoughtful and compelling philosophical read. Using satire and fiction to bring about the themes of conformity and forgoing critical thinking in society was a brilliant way to illustrate the author’s points. The idea that by engaging in superstition and even religious practices, one is essentially committing intellectual suicide, or in other words, ignoring rational thought and thinking for one’s self, was truly thought-provoking and kept the reader engaged thoroughly.

The unique thing about this book is that the author utilized a fictional, albeit satirical, story. Yet, the protagonist, the cast of characters, and even the setting all played a supporting role in this narrative. Instead, the book’s story helped elevate the themes the author was exploring and became a philosophical discussion between the author and the reader as Tommaso’s experiences reflect the intellectual journey the author encourages us all to embrace.

Take a Food Journey Around the World!

The Verdict

Thoughtful, engaging, and compelling author Massimo Fantini’s “Concerning Intellectual Suicide in the Human Race” is a must-read satire meets philosophical book. The extensive discussions the narrative inspires, and the call to arms that allows readers to think for themselves and not because of others allowed this book to flow smoothly and keep the reader invested. The Review

This was a compelling and thought-provoking read. The concepts the author had brought into this book were subjects I myself had been fascinated with for years. From the simulation theory that the author touches upon to the matrix theory that has seen some mind-blowing videos and evidence that makes us all feel like life is a simulation fascinating. The author wrote this book in a way that felt relatable and challenged the reader to delve deep within themselves to question their relationship to reality itself.

The use of a film such as the Truman Show was a great vehicle to delve into this topic. The great point that was made in this book was that this film was the true definition of reality TV, as most reality TV in our own culture has the people aware of their situation and thus the shows feel scripted at times, whereas this film showcases the reality of a man unaware of his simulated life. This speaks to us all, with the way life becomes out of control, and oftentimes feels like it is targeting us specifically really playing into this theory perfectly.

The Verdict

Memorable, captivating, and engaging, author Stephen Davis’s “The Truman Show: It’s True, Man!”, is a must-read nonfiction book on philosophy and metaphysical theories that cannot be missed. The honest expression of ideas and concepts the author explores from an everyday lens and the compelling story these theories bring to life make this a thoughtful read to get lost in. I began my “spiritual journey” at age 19, after reading “There is a River” by Thomas Sugrue. It is the biography of Edgar Cayce, and I immediately went to work for his son, Hugh Lynn, at the Association of Research and Enlightenment.

Then, in chronological order, I was:

~ Drummer, pianist, bassist, and musical director for “Up With People” when it first started.

~ Physician’s Assistant in the U.S. Army, including a year in Vietnam.

~ Commercial pilot for Cochise Airlines in Arizona.

~ State Senator from District 9 (Tucson) in Arizona. (In 1975, I was awarded the George Washington Medal of Honor from Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge for my article, “The Government Versus the Economy,” published in Parade Magazine).

~ Commodore’s Staff Aide to L. Ron Hubbard in Scientology, and founder and first president of the World Institute of Scientology Enterprises (WISE).

~ Director of Development and teaching faculty at Sherman College of Straight Chiropractic, where I wrote my first book, “Practice Management Made Easy.”

~ Author of computer software to run a chiropractic office.

~ Losing candidate for the U.S. Senate in South Carolina (Strom Thurmond beat me when he was 82 years old!).

~ Horse trainer and ranch manager for a buckskin breeding ranch in Arizona.

~ Cook and captain of an 80-foot whale and dolphin research ship (the “Kairos”) in the Canary Islands.

~ Author of an award-winning screenplay and two books (novels) based on ten years of research proving that HIV cannot be the cause of AIDS (“Wrongful Death: The AIDS Trial”), and that the so-called HIV tests can have false positive results as much as 90% of the time (“Are You Positive?”).

I had a car accident that broke my neck in 2003, and since then I have been taking it “easy,” writing “Butterflies Are Free to Fly” in 2008 and delivering my Holographic Universe Workshops all over the world. (Quantum physics has been my “hobby” for almost 30 years.) I am really honored that so many people have downloaded (and read, I hope!) this book.

I’M 77 years old with a wonderful family, including three amazing grandchildren.

I had two wonderful wives (15 years each), but I am now single and living in North Carolina.

The Review

For so long, questions of reality and the idea of what the human mind is capable of have been strictly regulated to philosophy and spiritualism. Ideas of life after death, shaping reality with our minds, and perceiving worlds that exist just outside of our own have been the stuff of supernatural novels and spooky stories. Yet the author has truly found a transformative and engaging way of bringing these ideas and concepts to life in a more grounded, scientific language.

The way the author was able to balance the philosophical and spiritual nature of these concepts with the scientific and critical thinking that the author brings to the table was fantastic to see come to life. The amount of research and development that went into these theories, especially the sunset conjecture, was great to see executed in this book. The idea of the mind being a vast universe and ideas and thoughts becoming images and real objects within these mindscapes was a refreshing way to speak about these topics.

The Verdict

Memorable, thoughtful, and engaging, author Clement Decrop’s “The Idea Space” is a must-read nonfiction book of philosophy and scientific theory. The almost esoteric concepts the author touched upon and the compelling, interactive nature of the book itself will stay with readers long after the final page. If you haven’t yet, be sure to grab your copy today!
