Press Release: Between the Tines (Forged in Blood Book One) by Ben Leman

Between The Tines

Forged in Blood Book One

A stunning new historical epic by debut author and former State Representative, Ben Leman!

The book is now on pre-order and will be available worldwide in print and digital formats this April by Grayscot

Set on Cowal Peninsula in southwest Scotland in the 17th century, Between the Tines follows the family of Clan Lamont as they are drawn into a brutal confrontation with Clan Campbell, whose relentless ambition leaves a trail of fear and devastation in its wake. As Arran Lamont fights alongside his brothers and lifelong friends, Lain and Sean, in the war-torn regions around them, he is tested by betrayal, loss, and the steady destruction of everything his clan has built.

Even in the darkest moments, the heart of the Lamont family beats strongly through the women who hold the community together—Allie, Ariel, Lady Mary, and Isabel—offering charity, stability, and spiritual strength when hope is hardest to find. Their resilience becomes a cornerstone of the clan’s will to survive.

From Highland games to clandestine raids, from feasts to fog-shrouded battlefields, Arran’s transformational journey is one of loyalty, courage, and a love that quietly grows stronger through the turmoil. But as the Campbells tighten their grip and the land burns around them, Arran and Lain are forced to rethink their fight. What begins as open warfare shifts into rescue missions, covert strategies, and the fragile beginnings of a daring plan for their people’s future.

Haunted by the horrors he’s witnessed and bound by duty to those who remain, Arran faces an impossible choice: continue a war that may consume them all…or lead his people toward a new beginning across the ocean, where survival may come at the cost of everything he knows.

Press Release: The LaundryMan by Dwayne Brenna

Award-winning author Dwayne Brenna’s latest is a gripping literary mystery novel featuring North West Mounted Policemen solving a murder in Prince Albert in the winter of 1883-84

Shadowpaw Press in Regina, Saskatchewan, is happy to announce the release of The Laundryman by award-winning Saskatoon author Dwayne Brenna, a gripping literary mystery set in the fledgling community of Prince Albert in the brutal winter of 1883-84, as two North West Mounted Policemen attempt to solve the murder of a Chinese laundryman and in the process unearth a web of deceit and naked greed.

The Laundryman launches in Saskatoon at McNally Robinson Booksellers at 7 p.m. on March 5; in Regina at The Artesian at 7:30 p.m. on March 12; and in Prince Albert at Cuelenaere Library at 7 p.m. on March 16.

“I’m beyond excited to unleash Belvedere and Montgomery, two Mounties as mismatched as winter and lemonade, upon the reading public,” says Brenna. “Although Shadowpaw is on the cover, there are no cats in the book—only dogs and policemen and suspects in a brutal murder. Hopefully, sometime in the future, I’ll find a way to include a dastardly cat in a work of fiction.”

“I’m thrilled to be able to publish this gripping historical murder mystery,” says Edward Willett, publisher of Shadowpaw Press. “Shadowpaw Press is very much a Saskatchewan publisher, and it’s always a delight to be able to share a story set in the province—or what would become the province. Even if it doesn’t include a cat.”

The book is available in trade paperback, ebook, and audiobook, narrated by Brenna (who is a professional actor as well as a writer).

More about The Laundryman

In the frozen heart of the 1883 Canadian frontier, a single death unveils a darkness that could consume a town—and the men sworn to protect it.

Corporal Belvedere, a Mountie scarred by a brutal past, and Surgeon Virgil Montgomery, a newcomer haunted by his own doubts, are drawn into a murder investigation in the isolated settlement of Prince Albert. As winter’s grip tightens, the killing exposes a web of secrets buried beneath the snow, threatening to unravel the fragile order of the North-West Territories.

In a community steeped in mistrust, Belvedere’s unyielding quest for justice collides with Montgomery’s struggle to uphold his oath to do no harm. Each clue they uncover draws them deeper into a maze of deception, where allies and enemies blur and every step risks a deadly reckoning. As the ice on the North Saskatchewan River begins to crack, they must confront a truth that could cost them their lives—or their souls.

A gripping tale of vengeance and redemption, The Laundryman plunges you into a world where justice battles betrayal, and the truth lies buried in a frozen wilderness.

Praise for The Laundryman

“A fast-paced, always arresting historical mystery, Dwayne Brenna’s The Laundryman pits two Mounties as mismatched as Holmes and Watson against an array of murder suspects in pre-provincial Prince Albert during a numbingly cold winter, with a bit of love, a hint of sex, a lot of suspense―and even a dog.”―Dave Margoshes, author of A Simple Carpenter

“Dwayne Brenna’s The Laundryman is a hard one to put down, a classic murder mystery that is nothing like any whodunit I’ve ever read. His setting (late 19th century, Northern Saskatchewan), his characters (cops, good women, greedy bastards, Indigenous hunters, and hardscrabble farmers), and his plot are painstakingly woven together. If, like me, you begin to miss Brennna’s authentic world, the only remedy is to read The Laundryman one more time.”―David Carpenter, author of The Education of Angie Merasty

“In The Laundryman, a young surgeon, Virgil Montgomery, fleeing his own past, finds himself involved in stressful adventures with the North West Mounted Police, his life often complicated by his investigating partner, the morose and crusty Corporal Belvedere, who too often doses himself with laudanum because of an old war wound. In the fall of 1883, the two men are dispatched to Prince Albert to investigate a murder. Dwayne Brenna knows his characters well, their strengths and weaknesses, and creates a compelling narrative as they struggle to solve a series of crimes in the turbulent North West. This is a novel touched by the spirit of an engrossing era, and it’s a pleasure to read.”―Robert Currie, author of Living with the Hawk

“Playwright Lieberman explores themes of partying and sexual awakening in modern New York City in this risqué this ” —BookLife Reviews

“This arousing novel celebrates feminine sexuality through one of the most original adventures of self-discovery written. The primary character – Dana – is surviving her first romantic breakup and the manner in which she not only survives but prospers and grows makes for one of the strongest Chick Lit novels to surface in quite a while. ” —Grady Harp, Amazon Top 100 Reviewer

Press Release: The Prodigal’s Son: Crackhead to Jesus Finds Success

The Prodigal’s Son: Crackhead to Jesus Freak Book 1: Addiction Recovery Support Series

The realities of addiction by critically acclaimed author, S.E. Tschritter.

NOW ON PRE-SALE WITH A RELEASE IN JANUARY 2026

At 1:30 a.m. Samantha Evans received the phone call every spouse dreads. “Mrs. Evans, this is a sergeant with the police department. There’s been an accident.” Six hours later, she received another call. “Mrs. Evans, this is a nurse at the hospital. We found something on the cat scan.”

Instead of preaching that Sunday, Pastor Clint Evans went to jail with a BAC of .24, a cancer diagnosis, and a felony charge of fleeing police. The Prodigal’s Son: Crackhead to Jesus Freak chronicles a Christian’s lifelong battle against demons, addictions, and unworthiness. This story portrays a God who steals the show with a backlash of grace toward a man whom others branded “unredeemable.”

The Prodigal’s Son flings church doors open wide to the world’s misfits and challenges pew-squater saints to stop measuring their godly perfection against the dirty, homeless and addicted. From gutter to pulpit to ditch to grace to grave, The Prodigal’s Son speaks volumes of God’s furious love for the world’s castoffs.

This is a story of a pastor arrested for drunk driving. The effects of alcoholism on families are staggering. “My wife hid her addiction from me,” “My husband hid his alcoholism.” Millions of men and women are affected by drug addiction. Do you crave hope amidst an addictionbattle? Are you looking for recovery support? If you found out your husband’s an addict, or your wife’s an alcoholic and you’re grieving your spouse’s addiction, look no further than The Prodigal’s Son: Crackhead to Jesus Freak. Within these pages, you’ll find hope. You’ll close the cover knowing you are not alone. Whether you’ve judged addicts, or you’re the addict who’s been judged, this book is a page-turning, must-read.

CREATIVE EDGE PUBLICITY IS PLEASED TO ANNOUNCE MULTIPLE REPRESENTED WINNERS IN THE 2025 GLOBAL BOOK AWARDS!!!!

The 2025 Global Book Awards for Self-Published Authors.

Featuring our medal winners and finalists in each of their categories.

The Global Awards aim to discover new talent as well as recognize fine examples of self-published books. As such, we hope they will give self-published authors the recognition they deserve, whether that is in their writing creativity, or in the way they have marketed their books to attract new readers.

In this modern age of self-publishing, books need to be appraised not only by their content and writing style, but also by the way they present and market themselves to the prospective buyer, whether that is in the good ratings it has on important stores like Amazon, its book cover and description, or the number of reviews it has collected. They must also appeal to new readers so part of the evaluation included a survey asking avid readers to select the top 5 books they enjoyed the most.

Press Release: Spectacularly Mediocre Maisey by Kalee Boisvert

Spectacularly Mediocre Maisey

Meet Maisey, the newest children book sensation by critically acclaimed author and Financial Expert Kalee Boisvert

The book is available worldwide in print format

Maisey isn’t the best at… well, anything.
Not at cartwheels.
Not at singing.
Not even at tying her shoes quickly.

But what Maisey is great at?
Trying.
Laughing.
And diving into life with her whole, wonderfully wiggly self.

So when her school’s talent show sign-up sheet goes up, Maisey writes her name without a second thought. She has no plan—just the feeling that it could be fun. While everyone else seems to have their “thing,” Maisey’s attempts at piano, karate, and gymnastics turn into hilarious disasters. And when her friend Evie has a stage-fright stumble, Maisey does what she does best: she shows up with heart.

With a burst of creativity (and a pile of pool noodles, cardboard, and tape), Maisey builds something no one sees coming—a performance that isn’t about being the best at all, but about bringing everyone together.

A joyful, laugh-out-loud celebration of bravery, creativity, and trying new things just because they make you happy, Spectacularly Mediocre Maisey reminds kids that you don’t have to shine the brightest to light up a room. You just have to be you.

Perfect for readers who love:
• School talent show stories
• Celebrating quirky creativity
• Characters with big hearts and even bigger imaginations
• Books about confidence, courage, and being yourself

Spectacularly mediocre? Maybe.
Spectacularly Maisey? Absolutely.

Mandatory vacation-three whole days!

Through playful language and heartwarming humor, Bernice, the Busiest of Bees reminds readers of all ages that even the hardest workers need time to rest, breathe, and rediscover the wonder around them.

Who is Rake Ozenna

Rake Ozenna is an orphan raised in a tiny, remote Alaskan island community on the border with Russia. He is an officer in the Alaska National Guard, often seconded to special force operations. His roots give him a perspective and survival instincts few outsiders possess. His feelings are tightly contained. He is observant, controlled, patient and deeply loyal.

He instinctively understands cold, environment, distance, silence, and he has an ability to read people as a hunter reads his prey. That makes him dangerous to enemies and to any who believe power cannot be challenged. There is also a formidable woman whom he cannot get out of his mind.
