The Synopsis

Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Professor Peter Morley is a retired FBI Intelligence Officer and Christian who becomes a neutrino physicist at MIT in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He started using new technology which identified a new form of energy based on traumatic past events he calls “Traumergy” which display events in the form of holograms.

While, working on a prototype of Traumergy Professor Morley identifies a conspiracy. The leaders of the company plan to go public based on stolen technology from MIT. Professor Morley works to find the truth using Traumergy and identifies a timeline which first started in 33AD.

The Review

The author was able to craft a mystery and a thought-provoking narrative in a short amount of time. The quick escalation of the scientific discovery that came with Traumergy and the exploration of what both the government and private corporations will do when faced with new technology was significantly represented by the conspiracy the protagonist came against in this novel. The world-building and the character arcs in this short novella made the story feel tangible and inviting, with an incredible story that readers could get lost in.

The heart of this story rests in the idea and concepts surrounding the bridge between science and spirituality. While many religious readers will be able to identify with the protagonist and his shared balance between both worlds, even non-religious individuals can engage with this story. The idea that trauma and traumatic events throughout both personal and world history can make an actual physical impact on an environment has always stood out to me as both a reader and a paranormal investigator, and exploring the different applications that energy can impact our world was a great source of storytelling in this book.

The Verdict

Author Patrick R. Carberry’s “Traumergy” is a must-read religious meets mystery sci-fi thriller that beautifully fuses theoretical physics, spirituality, and a mystery thriller element. The narrative twists and turns and the emotional and spiritual aspect of the story’s main plot will keep readers invested in this thought-provoking tale. At some point in their lives, many women may question who they are meant to be or their purpose in life. While struggling with identity, women are often surrounded by messages telling them who they should be or what they should believe in based on the thoughts and opinions of others. But this is not who God says we are, and the world’s values are not up to God’s standards or what He expects of us.

In a thirty-one day devotional, Christian life coach and mentor, Dr. Robin Revis Pyke, leads women down an introspective path of self-discovery inspired by lasting biblical truths. While encouraging women to embrace God’s Word and promises, she offers daily inspiration that guides overwhelmed female souls to understand their true identity in Christ through a powerful message of hope that we are all loved, accepted, and chosen. Included are reflection and study questions that can also be utilized as journal prompts.

Your Identity in Christ is a thirty-one day devotional that takes women on a spiritual journey to understand and embrace their identities as beautiful, valuable daughters of God.

The Review

This was an engaging and thoughtful read for Christian and faith-based readers. The author does an incredible job of crafting a guide that is straightforward yet deep-thinking, giving readers time to contemplate and reflect on their lives and how it relates to their faith at the same time. The empathy and kindness that the author’s voice comes through in the writing are truly wonderful to see and provide a great environment for self-reflection.

To me, the heart of this book rested in the strong themes that this book put together in the guide, especially that of being true to yourself and not to the ideals society expects of you. While the author’s message rings true for those who are religious and is definitely geared towards women of that faith, the message overall can apply to everyone, giving women a chance to ignore the trends and expectations that are placed on them by an oftentimes unforgiving society and instead be the person they feel they truly are, which is a message everyone should hear.

The Synopsis

Have you recognized and received God’s grace?

Experience and read of God’s grace placed upon nineteen women within the pages of this book. He brought together women of different cultures, countries, and backgrounds to share their testimony of when God’s grace found them and changed them forever. No matter where you are, there He is.

But He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.” 2 Corinthians 12:9 (NIV)

The Review

The author did an incredible job once more of giving readers a personal and emotional reading experience. The strength and conviction from which each of these women’s stories stems were greatly felt in the collection of stories found in this book, and the relatability of the stories helped drive home the connectivity we all share with one another in this life, through good times and bad.

While not religious myself, one of the things that faith-based readers are going to really be driven by in this series overall is the impact that faith and recognition of a divine presence or grace can have on a person’s life when they need it the most. Whether you are a believer or not, recognizing when a person can find the motivation to make changes in their life or gain the confidence to move forward with other aspects of their life is always inspiring and heartwarming to read. The thing that really stuck out to me is how each story felt unique and contained in its own right, and left readers feeling a wide range of emotions, giving the collection some fresh perspectives and a new experience each time.

The educational yet personable way the author relays the information in this devotional was well done. Just Before Dying, He Prayed For You by J. Traveler Pelton Review

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review. All opinions are my own.

Author J. Traveler Pelton works to explore the final moments of Jesus Christ’s life before he was taken by the soldiers and betrayed by Judas in the book, “Just Before Dying, He Prayed For You”.

Advertisements

The Synopsis

The last hours of Christ on this earth were intense; this book looks at just a few minutes of that time. John the beloved records that while Jesus was in Gethsemane, He had struggled with God, won the battle of self; and as the soldiers and Judas were heading His way, He took time out of the little He had left to turn to God and pray for us, all down through the eons of time, from then until now, and asked God to stay with us, to protect us, to lead us. He commended us to God the Father. When He completed His prayer, the guards came, and the torture of His passion took His attention for the next 24 hours as He was judged, tried and killed. His last thoughts were on you. Walk with Him in the Garden, think on His last words for us, understand His love. Whether used for the 40 days of lent or another time of spiritual emphasis, these 41 chapters will change your life.

The Review

This was such a unique and interesting read. While I must confess I myself am not religious and did not approach the book from that perspective, I think Christian readers are going to absolutely love the book. The heartfelt story focuses on the last recorded prayer of Jesus to his father and highlights his deep connection to humanity.

For me, history was a huge draw for this narrative. The climate and social dynamics of the people not only within Jesus’s group of followers, but the government and citizens around them all were fascinating to see unfold, and the comparisons the author made to present-day issues were insightful to read.

The Verdict

A memorable, thought-provoking, and engaging read for Christian readers especially, author J. Traveler Pelton’s “Just Before Dying, He Prayed For You” is a rich and thoughtful read. While I couldn’t identify with the more religious aspects of the book, the history was rich and fascinating to see unfold, and the exploration of modern history in comparison is a brilliant read.
