The Review

This was a phenomenal read. The author does a remarkable job of finding just that right balance between mystery, suspense, and romance. The fast-paced of the novel and the way the mystery unravels between both cases as they come together was great to see unfold over the course of the narrative. The tone of the narrative ranged from haunting and chilling to heated and passionate, capturing the adrenaline and thrill of being in the thick of danger together as passions bloom.

The dynamic between Kyla and Jason is so rich and captivating to read and see come to life on the page. The passionate way that Kyla pursues her friend’s case and the emotional pull of not only Kyla and Jason’s budding relationship but of Jason’s redemptive arc was moving and added depth to the mystery and suspense aspects of the narrative. The connectivity of the cast of characters from previous entries in this series allows the reader to feel fully immersed in this setting and showcases the level of world-building the author contended with in this entry.

The Verdict

Entertaining, passionate, and thrilling, author Anna J. Stewart’s “The PI’s Deadly Charade” is a must-read romantic suspense thriller and a great entry into Harlequin’s “Honor Bound” romantic suspense series. The shocking twists and dangerous turns the investigation takes the two protagonists will not only unravel the dangers facing them but show the elevated romantic journey that the two take as they grow closer together throughout their investigative journey. Ruby Little Bear’s tragic tale weaves through the narrative, reminding us that ONE MOMENT CAN CHANGE EVERYTHING.

The Review

This was the absolute best combination of romance and suspense. The wildness of the two protagonists’ tense and heated romance mirrored the equally wild landscape they found themselves in. The complex backstories that have brought each of them to the emotional place they meet each other in will captivate readers and bring the wellspring of tears that these emotional romances often have.

The rich mystery and suspense surrounding the thriller aspect of this narrative were so engaging to read. The striking backstory of this small town and the tragedy that has been kept in the shadows for two decades highlights the small-town atmosphere that keeps these mysteries lasting as long as they often do, both in fiction and reality itself. The back and forth look into who is responsible for the missing young woman and the complex relationship between the town and the indigenous people who have been so badly affected by this senseless death will have readers glued to the pages as each chapter unravels the intricacies of this mystery.

The Verdict

Haunting, thoughtful, and passionate, author W.L. Hawkin’s “Lure: Jesse & Hawk” is a must-read romantic thriller of 2022! A truly entertaining and captivating story of love lost, love found, and the lengths we are willing to go to in order to keep the past hidden, the author did an incredible job of finding a harmonious chord between the narrative and dynamic character development that cannot be matched. The Synopsis

Lillian Morgan is a disgraced British war correspondent. Scotland Yard has cleared her of all treason charges, but her career didn’t survive being duped by a double-agent. The rediscovery of a family heirloom, a New World fur trade journal from the eighteenth century, gives Lillian a story to chase while she tries to pick up the pieces of her life.

Colt Tanner is a world champion bull rider, old enough to know his time on the circuit is coming to a close, but too skittish to settle down anywhere. He likes life one adrenaline high after another, never stopping long enough to feel anything. But a career-ending injury has left him with time to notice there are unanswered questions about his family that are starting to pile up.

A week in the wilderness to write an eco-inn’s marketing material is not Lillian’s idea of professional glory, but her job prospects are limited. She needs a guide and Colt’s schedule is now wide open. Sparks and bullets fly when these two stumble into deadly family secrets and international spies holding grudges. Will they find what they’re looking for, or die trying? It’s MI6 meets the Rocky Mountains…with heat.

The Review

A gripping yet heated romance takes center stage in this romantic suspense thriller! The author found the perfect groove between the passion and heat that a steamy romance tends to have with the intrigue and mystery that the suspense thriller has. The amount of tension that is laced into the atmosphere keeps readers invested in the character’s journeys, as does the rich amount of time developing the setting these characters find themselves in.

The character growth was truly superb in this read. The individual journey that each of the protagonists takes is equally matched with the shocking twists and turns in their family histories. The amount of espionage and spy-related thriller plot points that are included feel natural and entertaining, making this book impossible to put down.

The Verdict

Engaging, intense, and beautifully written, author Sara Kades’s “Wild Not Broken” is the perfect romance thriller and next chapter in the Hearthstone series! A brilliant way to start our 2022 for fans of the genre, the imagery and setting play a heavy role in developing this world, and powerful character growth will have readers hanging off of the author’s every word. Towne Square (Providence Island Book 2) by Dianna Wilkes Review

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review. All opinions are my own.

A woman reconnecting with her son after recovering memories of a life she never knew she had leads a small knit group of people through a mystery that shakes up the small town of Providence Island in the hit book Towne Square (Providence Island Book 2) by Dianna Wilkes. Here’s the synopsis:

Jamie Danvers’s luck changed for the better when she was hired to handle marketing and communications for a Providence Island design firm. Although she’s learned from her past mistakes, her family continues to believe the worst about her. On PI, she’s making a fresh start—a home, good friends, and a challenging career. Her boss, Dana Canfield, believes in her, something Jamie hasn’t experienced for a long time. Falling in love with architect Rhys McCall wasn’t in Jamie’s plan, especially since he’s Dana’s son. Can she trust her instincts this time that Rhys might be The One?

Workaholic Rhys McCall put off having a personal life for too long. A fractured family life growing up left him cynical about finding eternal love. Jamie’s beauty catches his interest from the beginning. Her clever mind and quick wit keeps him on his toes, and he’s ready to become a believer in Forever After. She’s the perfect fit for him—personally and professionally.

But the path to love isn’t going to be easy. A killer roams the streets of PI. He’s murdered two people already, and Rhys appears to be next in his sights. Until Rhys discovers who’s targeting him, he can’t put Jamie’s life at risk. But Jamie’s not about to let Rhys shut her out. Will her determination to save their relationship put them both in jeopardy?

This book perfectly balances the mystery surrounding these characters with the personal relationships both romantic and familial that everyone loves to read. This romantic suspense thriller is the second in the acclaimed Providence Island series, and sees the story continue as a woman who learned she was lied to for years about who she was reconnects with her long lost son, trying to rebuild the life they never got to have together. However her son not only has to deal with a blossoming romance, a man swooping his mother off her feet and a huge business deal that could affect the entire town, but now he has to contend with a stalker who sets their sights on him, going after anyone he cares about.

The suspense is addicting to read, keeping the reader on the edge of their seat until the books final moments. Leaving room for the anticipated third book in the franchise, the story does a marvelous job of furthering the character’s story developments while keeping the relationships fresh and heartwarming to read. Twist after twist keep the story flowing in this small town, as the island itself becomes a character that sets the scene for a coastal town becoming the home to a mysterious killer with an agenda all his own.

In the end, this was a wonderful read. While I hadn’t read the first book in the series, the second book does a great job of balancing past events in the first book with a fresh new story that doesn’t require the reader to go out and buy the previous book. It’s an engrossing read that everyone should try, so if you haven’t yet be sure to pick up your copies of Dianna Wilkes novel Towne Square today!
