In a world filled with politically charged division, art is often used to express one’s own opinions and emotions in the wake of momentous changes in society. At a time when war, social unrest, and uncertainty runs rampant throughout the United States, the need for artists to be able to express an advocate. These growing emotions, not only for themselves, but for the general audience has never been greater. That feeling is captured perfectly in the latest single from The Heard Eye, “Send Baron.”

The track holds no punches, delving into the fears and realities so many families face now with the growing threat of war hanging over everyone. With the United States, currently being led by a president who has a no uncertain terms created a mass divide between its citizens, the band artfully uses a funk rock track to explore the shocking reality so many soldiers now face with these growing threats being created, by asking why the president when it sent his own son if he leaves in this cause so much.

While the powerful lyrics hold a lot of weight, the politically charged message of the song is perfectly balanced with a unique, funk rock edge. The lyrics hit home with the same punch of a song by rage against the machine, while the funky guitar riffs are reminiscent of a mix of Chicago meets the Black Keys. The soulful tone of the vocals themselves when blended with the funk rock tone the band has become so well known for, gives the audience a feeling of 70s and 80s nostalgia with a modern twist that is impossible to ignore.
