The Synopsis

THE REVIEW

This was a thrilling and compelling dark fantasy meets supernatural and historical fiction. Read. As a history fan myself, getting to see the Author incorporate Roman history into the series ‘established world was inspiring and highly creative. The visceral imagery and the rich atmosphere of the narrative kept the reader invested as the story progressed.

It was the way the author maintained the witty dialogue and character dynamics that the series is known for, which made this story shine so brightly. Using this unique setting, a character of Constantine was given more room to grow and allowed readers to explore his origins, as well as get a fresh new take on how reapers and the position of death’s intern became part of the universe itself, allowing longtime fans of the series to become even more immersed in the growing mythos the author has created.

THE VERDICT

Engaging, memorable, and thoroughly entertaining, author D.C. Gomez’s “Rise of the Reapers” is a must-read, supernatural and paranormal fantasy read with a fun historical fiction twist. The twists and turns the story takes, and the fun, humorous interactions. The characters have one of those, and the staggering world-building, which adds so much context to previous entries in the series, will have readers on the edge of their seats.
