In October 2013, God led me and my family from our missionary journey in Lucknow, India to a new ministry in Chittagong, Bangladesh.

This book is about that journey, and some of the relationships, struggles, and blessings I received along the way. And it is about life, the wonderful people of Bangladesh, and some of the things missionaries may encounter while serving.

The Review

This was an informative and insightful read. The author writes with honesty and passion for the work they do, and the depth of detail they provide readers gives a personal look into the life of a missionary and what they do on a day-to-day basis. The author’s writing style perfectly brought to life the journey into Bangladesh, using powerful imagery to transport the reader into the author’s experiences firsthand.

The balance between personal life experiences, faith-driven ministry lessons, and India’s culture was the heart of this book. The work to bring his personal faith and beliefs to others in India and beyond and the way the author was able to draw from actual journal entries over the course of several decades to articulate the guidance he felt from God in his work speaks to readers who are more faith-driven in their own lives, especially Christian readers who look for signs that there is a guiding hand in their own journey. 

The Verdict

Honest, insightful, and engaging, author and Dr. Chris Mauger’s “If You Would Be So Kind” is a must-read nonfiction book on faith and religion. The book also explores how people connect with other cultures, how people around the world live differently, and how deeply connected people as a whole can be.
