THE REVIEW

This was a fun and engaging romance novel. While part of the author’s Perfect series, this standalone novel does a great job of drawing readers into a new setting and character dynamics that will still resonate with fans of the series as a whole. The lighthearted suspense that comes with the tension between the two protagonists as secrets and hidden connections loom between them adds a creative note that allows the deeper romance aspects of the story to shine brighter, while the unique setting of a law firm gives readers a more immersive experience as they are thrust into the world of legal proceedings and driven careers.

Of course, the heart of this novel is in the romance and relationship between the two protagonists. The disposition of the two characters makes for powerful storytelling, as one is desperate to escape his legacy and make a name for himself, while the other aspires to follow her own dreams while working multiple jobs, and the warning of a parent who has been burned in the past by the kind of person she herself is now falling for. The drama that ensues and the will-they-won’t-they dynamic as they grow closer will keep readers immersed in this narrative.

THE VERDICT

Heartfelt, compelling, and thoroughly entertaining, Author Maria Jane’s “Perfect Secrets” is a must-read novel and a great romance that readers won’t be able to put down. Especially in the wake of successful romances, such as the hit show/novel series Off-Campus, the story comes at the perfect time when readers are craving more than ever tension-filled yet profoundly moving and complicated romances that readers can easily get lost in, and the author does a wonderful job of driving readers into this narrative and making them care for this cast of characters.
