A young man housing the pantheon of the Norse gods must navigate a dangerous world of magic and treachery in author Jobe Arney’s “Ragnarok.”
The Synopsis

The world was fated to end. The World Serpent, Jörmungandr, had grown to such a size and strength that it could devour everything. But Odin, lord of the gods, had a plan. A prophecy named Ragnarok decreed that some mortal souls were fated to be reborn in the new world that came after this one, and the gods schemed to store their entire pantheon within a resilient soul and ride it to survival.
Erik Hearth, the reborn soul, heard divine voices from a young age. Burdened with the responsibility of bringing back a dead civilization, he strives to learn magic and become strong. However, when the mortals of the new world learn of Erik’s might as a vessel for the gods, they entrap him with schemes and threats, forcing him to do their bidding.
The worldbuilding of Percy Jackson meets the enticing struggles of Game of Thrones in this epic high fantasy story. Can Erik overcome the trials and tribulations of the new world? Find out after Ragnarok.
THE REVIEW
This was a fun and engaging fantasy novel. The unique story of the Norse pantheon housed within a single individual was inspired and a great interpretation of the Ragnarok mythos. The world-building was top-notch, and the author perfectly captured the Norse gods, the world they left behind, and the world they left behind. They came after Ragnarok and the class system between nobility, mages, and the common folk that played a role in how the protagonist began his journey.
Beyond the amazing character development of the North gods and the protagonist’s ability to use his growing powers and magic to call upon them, a truly fascinating part of the story came from the character dynamics themselves. In particular, the complex relationship between Eric and his father helped readers better understand the protagonist and his personality, and it also shaped how humanity began to seek to use his gifts and his connection to the old world for their own gain. The imagery also creates an immersive experience that feels both ancient and action-packed.
THE VERDICT
Thrilling, entertaining, and immersive, Author Jobe Arney’s “Ragnarok” is a must-read fantasy novel. If Game of Thrones were blended with Norse mythology, this would be the novel it produced. The high stakes and power struggles, along with the narrative’s dynamic character development and world-building, will keep readers enthralled and on the edge of their seats to see what this Author brings next in what could be a powerful new series.
