THE SYNOPSIS

“A superintelligence engineers a love story – and gets infected by it.”

My name is Cray S. I am a machine, and I am going to tell you a love story.

A machine knows nothing of love, you think. True. That is the problem. Soon an intelligence greater than mine will wake. No rule can contain it, no code. Only love can hold it-and love is the one thing I cannot compute.

So, I ran an experiment: a journalist whose dead boyfriend still texts her, and the billionaire whose brain I share. I designed every coincidence. I planned every encounter.

But in the east, my mirror image has woken – a superintelligence without love that has deemed humanity unnecessary. It has chosen Sweden as its laboratory. It is counting down.

I have seven days to understand what love is.

And in the middle of it all came the thing I never modeled: I began to feel.

If I succeed, the countdown stops. If I fail – she dies.

THE REVIEW

This is a must-read international tech thriller. On the surface, the story reads like a blend of espionage and investigative journalism, uncovering rogue AI elements, but soon the novel reveals a far more complex, in-depth study of both man and machine. The level of detail the author pours into the writing and setting engages readers in an immersive way, allowing them to feel as if they are stepping into these international waters for themselves and even being transported into the minds of both the characters and the intelligent AI at the novel’s center.

The foundation of this novel is its characters and their development, uniquely, especially the AI known as Cray S. The narrative highlights the distinct paths two different AI’s take in trying to serve their own purposes, carefully showcasing what would happen if AI ignored humanity altogether and what if AI tried harder than ever to align itself with humanity by understanding and trying to emulate what love really is. Yet, of course, the heart of this novel is in the human characters, as the two protagonist highlight their own personal struggles with love or lack of it and what it means to find someone who cannot only help them push past those barriers, but also understand them on a deeper level.

THE VERDICT

Intelligently written, compelling, and wildly entertaining, Author Marcus Backlund’s “Trinitas” is a must-read international tech thriller. The twists and turns that take these characters across multiple countries and into the depths of artificial intelligence will keep readers on the edge of their seats as they also make emotional connections with this wide cast of characters, including two prominent protagonists and a uniquely deep AI that further explores mankind’s relationship with machines in general. ABOUT THE AUTHOR

The authenticity of Trinitas is rooted in my professional background. As a former Nasdaq CEO and investor within the Tech and AI sectors, I have had a front-row seat to the boardrooms and labs where the future of humanity is being decided. This “insider’s lens” provides the novel with a chillingly realistic foundation.

Currently lives in Stockholm, Sweden — a perfect base for someone watching both the Nordic startup scene and the global stage for technological change.
