A murder investigation uncovers a powerful artifact across history with deadly ties in author Eugene Stripe’s “The Bookmark.”

The Synopsis

Some books are meant to be read.

Others are meant to find you.

An impossible death.

A mystery that has survived for centuries.

A story that seems to know exactly what you fear.

When an ordinary investigation uncovers traces of a forgotten past, every answer leads deeper into an ancient secret that refuses to remain buried. What begins as a search for the truth soon becomes a fight against something that cannot be explained by reason alone.

As the line between history and the present begins to disappear, one question remains:

What if some stories are not waiting to be discovered…

What if they are waiting for you?

The Bookmark is a supernatural thriller that blends mystery, psychological suspense, and ancient secrets into a gripping story that will keep you turning pages until the very end.

THE REVIEW

This compelling, deeply enthralling psychological thriller blends supernatural horror with historical fiction. The world-building is astonishing; the author transports the reader back and forth between the past and the present, laying the foundation for a rich mythology built around a supernatural object with a deadly price. The author strikes a fantastic balance between detail and leaving room for the reader’s imagination, immersing them in the novel’s powerful scenes and keeping them on the edge of their seat as the story unfolds.

This was a very atmospheric novel, and the character development was next level. The author not only establishes a strong historical background showing how this object has impacted so many across the centuries, but also brings a unique criminal-investigation element into the narrative, focusing on two investigative protagonists who come across this object in the midst of a murder investigation. This sets the tone perfectly as the story develops and readers begin to connect with these characters as the powerful threats grow larger and larger.

THE VERDICT

Thrilling, entertaining, and memorable, Author Eugene A. Stripe’s “The Bookmark” is a visceral, compelling supernatural horror-meets-psychological thriller with a must-read historical fiction twist. Readers who enjoy the tense, psychological crime thriller elements of Author JD Barker’s The Fourth Monkey, the supernatural wish element of Stephen King’s Needful Things, and the legacy and horror of the mythology behind Author Tosca Lee’s “The Progeny” will greatly enjoy the twists and turns this narrative takes and eagerly await what this amazing Author brings to the table next. ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Eugene A. Stripe writes psychological and supernatural thrillers in which history is more than a backdrop, the supernatural is never an escape, and every choice has consequences. In his stories, past and present, reality and imagination intertwine through hidden connections that often become visible only when it is already too late to turn back.

He has been writing stories for more than fifteen years and has completed several novels and short stories, most of which he kept entirely to himself for a long time. About a year and a half ago, he decided to change that and begin sharing his stories with readers.

His background in history and geography also shapes his writing. He is particularly fascinated by the way individual decisions can alter the course of events, and by how the consequences of choices made long ago can continue to unfold centuries later. For him, the supernatural is most compelling when it forces ordinary people into situations that reveal who they really are.

THE BOOKMARK is his first published novel.
