THE REVIEW

This was another fun, adventurous entry in author Ann Charles’s series. The balance of witty dialogue, humorous interactions, unexpected and heated romances, and straight-up action keeps readers on the edge of their seats throughout much of the novel. The author does a great job slowing the pace during vital character scenes while speeding it up for the intense action that ensues when these assassins enter the fray.

The detailed writing style and lightheartedness, along with the way the Morgan sisters and their allies connect with one another, allow readers to become invested in the story. The rich setting keeps expanding, and the personal mythos surrounding the Morgan sisters and their group or posse lets readers build on that emotional connection. They’ve built throughout the previous six books in the series.

THE VERDICT

Action-packed, thrilling, and entertaining, author Ann Charles‘s “CHARGE OF THE LAWLESS LIZARDS” is a must-read humorous modern western meets contemporary women’s fiction and action-adventure novel, and a great entry in the Jackrabbit Junction mystery series. The twists and turns the story takes, especially the drive behind these assassins targeting the protagonist, and the honestly shocking connection some of these characters make with one another after seven books is enough to keep readers not only engaged with this amazing novel, but eager to see more from the writing this amazing author has been putting down over the years.
