A lowly apprentice becomes a reluctant hero to save his job and future in author Mister Tut’s “Bartleby Bromelard: Renegade Scrivener: The Bromeliad Volume 1.”
THE SYNOPSIS

A fantasy satire.
Lowly apprentice Bartleby the scrivener must fix his boss’s faux pas, or all his back pay and retirement fund will retroactively dissappear! He is forced into a quest from quaint Upper Dithering to the great metropolis of Vaelen-Craig with the help of an alcoholic gargoyle and a wily thief. They will face bounty-hunters, accountants and actuaries in a world where writing in a ledger can alter reality and a notary stamp can change the universe. All told, He would prefer not to.
THE REVIEW
This is a witty, adventurous, and compelling LitRPG-meets-high-fantasy-and-satire novel. The author brings epic on-the-road vibes to the novel, with the protagonist traveling with a group of mismatched yet lovable characters, adding atmosphere to the narrative while still fanning the flames of adventure fans of these genres love when they pick up a book like this. The author does a great job of world-building, taking a cast of unique characters and exploring the power of words, quite literally, through a fantasy setting where bureaucracy and clerical errors can mean life or death for entire realities, all in a very short yet powerful novel.
The hero’s journey and adventure readers love in high fantasy, along with RPG-style storytelling, form the foundation of this novel; its true heart lies in the character dynamics and the author’s humor and heart. The way the protagonist comes across as a reluctant hero, who begins this journey to begin with, and who must overcome personal struggles and fears, as well as find common ground with his newfound allies, and must find the power within himself to save his job and his future, makes his story, as well as the stories behind his compatriots, both fascinating and heartfelt, allowing readers to connect with these characters, despite the odd and somewhat humorous circumstances that brought them together.
THE VERDICT
Thoughtfully curated, adventurous, and engaging, Author Mister Tut’s “Bartleby Bromelard: Renegade Scrivener: The Bromeliad Volume 1” is a must-read satirical high-fantasy-meets-LITRPG narrative. This quick yet fascinating novel, with its twists and turns, compelling characters, and world-building, captures the atmosphere and tone of a Dickens novel and keeps readers on the edge of their seats, eager to delve deeper into this rich world. The author has crafted a truly compelling story. If you haven’t yet, please be sure to grab your copy today!

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

MisterTut is a certified literary scrivener, amateur archivist, and reluctant survivor of multiple municipal audits. Having spent years studying the dark arts of double-entry Alchemy, administrative evasion, and high-stakes clerical panic, he writes fantasy novels about dry auditors, disgruntled gargoyles, and weaponized tax codes—primarily so he can legally deduct his parchment and ink supplies as legitimate operational overhead.
When not balancing fictional ledgers or filing zoning variances against dark lords, he resides in a high-density residential zone under the watchful supervision of over thirty Jade plants (Crassula ovata). Though local building inspectors periodically attempt to cite this as an unauthorized botanical militia, he maintains that the succulents are non-depreciating asset reserves kept purely for emergency carbon sequestration and mild aesthetic intimidation.
He has never been formally convicted of unlawful bureaumancy, and his margins remain suspiciously clean.
