1) Tell us a little bit about yourself. How did you get into writing?
I’ve been an avid reader since I was in the early years of elementary, going so far as to being directed into a program that allowed me to read during standard class time. Because of this, I’ve always been absolutely in love with stories. I started writing my own when I was about 13 years old. They were absolutely terrible, but I loved creating my own worlds. Twenty years, and countless unfinished works later, I finally took the plunge to take it a bit more seriously.
2) What inspired you to write your book?

Specifically for Wrought In Flesh, I wanted to write something that danced along the lines of mainstream with a romantic backstory, but I wanted something grittier, something that bridged the lines of fantasy and horror. I love reading both these genres, and fantasy’s that cross into the realm of grimdark/horror are my favorite. As for the world, I love magic. I wanted to create a magic system that dipped slightly into realistic, going so far as to include scientific properties (albeit, I am not a scientist, and my knowledge only goes as far as cursory google searches). Killian’s is an example in that he controls both heat and water, thus can create steam from nothing. Granted, there are moments where things aren’t quite as linear or cohesive throughout, but that’s fantasy isn’t it?
3) What theme or message do you hope readers will take away from your book?
One of the biggest themes in the book is bodily autonomy, and our drive for control over our own lives. As seen with Raekin and Varena, everything they do is dictated by the Void. Even Sybil loses what control she has with her magic, and under the thumb of the Portcullis. I’m hoping to grab an audience that also feels like maybe they don’t have as much control of their surroundings and want a story they can follow where the characters slowly garner back that control.
4) What drew you into this particular genre?
As previously, I love magic, and fantasy, but I also love horror and thrillers and romance. Combining them was something I had immense fun in doing.
5) If you could sit down with any character in your book, what would you ask them and why?
I think I would sit down with Ethissa. A person that has been alive for decades, who runs her own oddities and alchemy shop sounds absolutely fascinating, and I would love to pick her brain.
6) What social media site has been the most helpful in developing your readership?
Probably Instagram. I have met some of the most fantastic people through DMs and post on there. The following and commraderie is absolutely incredible, I have never been involved in such an amazing community of caring, uplifting people. It is bewildering to me how easy it is to reach out to people across the world and just yap about books.
7) What advice would you give to aspiring or just starting authors out there?
Just write. That’s it. Put words on paper, one after another. You can stress about editing and stress about drafts or social media, or outreach of publishing, but the best advice I have is to put down words. I had an editor tell me on a previous novel I was trying to publish (I had been working on it for 10 years) that I needed to step back, and start over. Re-editing and revising the same story over and over wasn’t going to get me published. But practice and diligence could. Hence, Wrought In Flesh was born. Practice does indeed make perfect and the more you write, the better your stories will be.
8) What does the future hold in store for you? Any new books/projects on the horizon?
Well, book 2 is already complete and at the editors as I write this, and should be released in September of 2026 (cover art is also complete and I am very excited to release that!), and book 3 is in the works. I have a plethora of stories just banging in my skull to be released, and now that I have my following and all the resources at my fingertips, I’ll likely continue to put out stories as the years unfold!
