The Synopsis

Dry Creek, Tennessee, is the kind of place that prides itself on being quiet.

Too quiet.

When George Peterson is found dead and ruled a suicide, most of the town exhales and moves on. When his granddaughter, Lacy Krammer, comes home from active duty in Germany for the funeral, the first thing she finds in his house is a message he never meant anyone else to see.

It’s short. Blunt. Terrifying.

My death was not suicide. Trust no one.

When an investigative journalist, Marcus Bell, starts asking the right questions, Lacy realizes George wasn’t just a beloved town fixture. He was a keeper of records… and secrets someone would kill to keep buried.

Dry Creek turns claustrophobic fast. People who once smiled at George now repeat the same rehearsed lines. Files disappear. Someone is watching the farmhouse, testing doors, daring Lacy to keep digging.

When Lacy visits a name that keeps surfacing, she never makes it back.

Drugged. Bound. Waking deep in the woods.

The man behind the mask isn’t random. He’s been controlling Dry Creek for years—staging murders as suicides, silencing witnesses, and feeding the town a lifetime of lies.

But Lacy didn’t survive her past by breaking.

She survived by fighting.

And in a town built on silence, she is about to become the loudest truth anyone has ever heard.

THE REVIEW

This was a fast-paced and compelling thriller. The author finds a perfect balance between emotional character growth and suspenseful mystery development, keeping the reader invested in the narrative. The investigation the two protagonists undertake uncovers a web of deceit and duplicity that has embedded itself in the fabric of this small town, and the reader is glued to the page as each chapter builds tension in the atmosphere of each scene.

The character development was great for such a fast-paced read. The reader can see the protagonist, Lacey, especially develop into a captivating heroine, using her training and passion for uncovering the truth to investigate, while forming a bond of trust with Marcus that readers can get behind. The struggle with her past that drives her to move forward is relatable and keeps the reader engaged in her own personal story while each clue is unraveled.

THE VERDICT

Memorable, thought-provoking, and entertaining, author K.H. Andersen’s “Hidden Beneath the Lies” is a must-read thriller and a great starting point for a brand-new mystery thriller series. The small town becomes a character readers become invested in, and the air of fear and mistrust that slowly erodes the town’s facade will stay with readers long after the book ends. if you haven’ t yet, be sure to grab your copy today!
