The Synopsis

His daughter vanished seventeen years ago. The lights in the sky know where she is.

Across the world, strange lights are appearing. The public sees UFOs. Governments scramble. Witnesses speak of alien encounters, missing people, and an approaching apocalypse.

Kane sees something else.

Years after his daughter Poppi vanished without a trace, a voice emerges from the static with a message meant for him: “Look at the light.”

Drawn back towards the secret programme that made him, Kane uncovers a terrifying pattern. People are disappearing. Others return changed — carrying fractured memories and warnings of something waiting beyond the veil. As panic spreads and nations brace for invasion, Kane, Dr Lena Ortiz and Father Callum Ward begin to understand that the phenomenon is older, stranger and far more dangerous than anyone imagined.

The abducted were used.

The dead are not always gone.

And the lights are opening a door.

To find the truth — and the daughter who may still be alive — Kane must follow them, wherever they lead.

The Displaced is Book One of a dark supernatural thriller series blending UFO mystery, government conspiracy and creature horror — for readers who love their fiction with lights in the sky and something wrong in the corner of the room.

THE REVIEW

This was a compelling, captivating conspiracy thriller that blends sci-fi and supernatural horror. This book did a fantastic job of incorporating topics and elements that I love researching in my everyday life, such as remote viewing, aliens, and paranormal encounters overall, and incorporating these topics into a well-built world that the author constructed and that feels both accessible and otherworldly at the same time. The powerful imagery and compelling world-building allow the reader to feel fully immersed in the narrative and connect with the characters on a deeper, more personal level.

The depth of character development in this novel was astounding. Each of the three main characters has a unique mission and purpose in exploring this phenomenon, while the secondary cast deepens the supernatural and sci-fi mysteries and adds human-level threats to the narrative. The story itself is very thought-provoking as it explores concepts of what we as a species consider to be alien, and whether UFOs are really from distant stars or galaxies or if they could be from somewhere even further yet closer than anyone ever expected.

THE VERDICT

Thoughtfully written, compelling, and entertaining, Ben Norton’s “The Displaced” is a must-read conspiracy thriller that blends sci-fi and horror. The story’s twists and turns, along with its balance of heartfelt character development and engaging world-building, blend seamlessly with a unique take on the paranormal, weaving UFO abduction stories and conspiracies together in a way that feels connected.
