THE REVIEW

This was such a heartfelt and compelling nonfiction memoir. The author does an incredible job tapping into the heartfelt, emotional connection she shared with Tash and the lifelong journey of their friendship. The level of detail the author delves into regarding Tash and her family, from their connection to Katherine the Great to her father’s veteran status from WWII and so much more, made the experiences the author imparts to the reader more impactful and compelling to read.

The heart of this narrative was the powerful and immersive writing style the author used to bring these stories to life. The reader instantly felt transported to the 1950s era in Northern California and New York, from the warmth and heartfelt memories of horseback riding in childhood to the days spent seeing New York through Tash’s eyes as Tash studied ballet and so much more. The author touches on the era’s cultural impact and captures the devotion and emotional connection childhood friends can share, and how it evolves over time.

THE VERDICT

Memorable, honest, and engaging, Linda Thorpe’s “Tash: A Memoir” is a must-read nonfiction memoir. The insightful, compelling memories and experiences the author delivers evoke a sense of nostalgia and hope that lifelong friendship can offer, and keep the reader invested in the connection the author and Tash shared.
