Some of the best, most memorable moments in music come from artists and bands that defy a single genre and cross over into multiple. Rather than letting a genre define the band, the band defines not one but many genres at once, creating a unique sound and tone that is essentially and intrinsically tied to the band itself.

Flowers for Juno has become one of those bands that defy genres, and in their latest single, “Dolphin Girl,” they have found a way to artfully blend the gothic rock tone with synth and pop melodies. The gritty, often distorted synth vocals are beautifully captured in this track, creating a sound that feels both futuristic in style and artistically classic, harkening to a blend of 70s funk rock, 80s Hair Band rock, and modern-day electronic synth vibes.

The single is accompanied by two other tracks, “Lipstick and Furs (Arbitrary Cash-in Edit)” and “Lucozade and Vodka”, speaking to the band’s attention to bringing feel-good vibes and atmosphere to their music. The use of unique instruments, such as the Northumbrian harp, showcases the band’s creative vision and ability to transcend genre and expectations, making this a must-listen single heading into the summer.
