THE REVIEW
This was an adorable and engaging children’s book read. The author does an incredible job of using warm, cartoon-perfect illustrations and pairing them with engaging storytelling that instills a sense of adventure, fun, and curiosity. The innocence and wonder that Boomer, as a protagonist, brought to each scene in the book, and the encouragement to understand the various animals of the forest and their habitats and behaviors, were an added bonus.
The theme of exploration, as well as biology, that the story encourages young readers to learn about, was great to see. The story not only explores the forest and how learning to understand the environment and the animals that live in it is so important, but also showcases how important it is to use all our senses, such as hearing, to visualize and remember one’s own surroundings, making this story truly shine.
THE VERDICT
Memorable, heartfelt, and engaging, author Diann Floyd Boehm’s “Boomer Hear The Forest” is a must-read children’s book. The cute and inviting illustrations, paired with memorable storytelling and thoughtful, educational moments that engage young readers and make them eager to learn more about their environment, make this story one that readers won’t be able to put down. Diann was born to the parents of George and Mabel Floyd in Tulsa, OK, but grew up in Texas with her five brothers. She has traveled extensively to many parts of the world and lived in Dubai for 14 years, where her husband worked for the American Law Firm Norton Rose Fulbright for 14 years.
