Author Deborah Wilde shares a story of a group of magical problem solvers facing a dangerous threat using golems as assassins in the novel “Golem for Broke,” the first book in the Mad Queens Inc series.
The Synopsis

Surviving your forties requires coffee, good friends, and a morally flexible relationship with illegal magic.
Tovah Silver runs Mad Queens Inc., an unlicensed magical problem-solving agency with her three best friends. They’ve built their reputation on grit, loopholes, and unrepentant competence, ignoring those who think their perimenopausal magic tops out at party tricks.
They’re wrong but correcting them would be a felony. Every one of the Queens has a forbidden second magic buried deep—until an assassin golem forces Tovah to unleash hers.
She thinks she got away with it. Then Nikolai Azarov shows up.
Vancouver’s only golem-maker would call her story creative if he wasn’t too busy calling BS. Worse, once he figures out what she actually did to that golem, he doesn’t turn her in. He names his price.
Now Tovah must honor a dangerous bargain with a man who’s already insufferable without leverage, outmaneuver the magic cops circling her agency, and hunt down whoever left a hand-delivered clay effigy on her bed.
Middle age isn’t a crisis. It’s a weapon.
Perfect for fans of magical mysteries, witty slow-burn romance, and tight-knit female friendships.

THE REVIEW
This is such a fun and exhilarating misadventure into the world of magic and the supernatural. The author does an incredible job of landing the story with the same level of humor and snark that previous books in the series have become known for, while also adding a new layer to the setting as the author explores the world of golems. The rich mythology and the depth of detail the author puts into bringing golems to life are astonishing and really compel the reader to delve deeper into the overall series.
The bond between the friends and their problem-solving agency, as well as the slow-building tension between the protagonist and the golem maker, became the heart of the story. The rich imagery and the immersive experience readers get from the setting made the story come alive on the page, and each new layer of this mystery added depth to the series’ overall mythology.
THE VERDICT
Compelling, thrilling, and wildly entertaining, author Deborah Wilde’s “Golem for Broke” is a must-read urban fantasy and supernatural novel. The twists and turns the story takes, the dynamic and fun dialogue among the cast of characters, and the relatability of the protagonist and the core characters will elevate the mythos and the overall story readers have come to love in this series. About the Author

Deborah Wilde is a global wanderer and hopeless romantic. After twelve years as a screenwriter, she was also a total cynic with a broken edit button, so, she jumped ship, started writing funny, sexy, urban fantasy and paranormal women’s fiction novels, and never looked back.
She loves writing smart, flawed, wisecracking women who can solve a mystery, kick supernatural butt, banter with hot men, and still make time for their best female friend, because those were the women she grew up around and admired. Granted, her grandmother never had to kill a demon at her weekly friend lunches, but Deborah is pretty sure she could have.

Smart (ass) heroines. Epic magic. Red-hot romance.
