THE REVIEW

This was a compelling and engaging second entry into this incredible sci-fi and fantasy series. The author does a fantastic job of building on the events of the first book while giving readers a sense of immersion in a vast new world. The author achieves this by balancing powerful, evocative imagery with a diverse array of characters that shift the point of view in each chapter.

The world-building and mythos the author expands upon in this book offer a brilliant fusion of science fiction and fantasy storytelling. This allows the author to continue to engage in a deep conversation with the reader about the impact war and divisive politics and religious viewpoints have on the populations of the world by showcasing both a war for resources, as well as a war between social classes, in this case between the reborn metal beings known as mollards and the organic people who are considered second-class laborers. The dynamic character interaction said that this level of storytelling keeps readers emotionally invested in the narrative’s development.

THE VERDICT

A rich, dynamic, and highly entertaining sci-fi and fantasy novel, Author Opëshum Patroz’s “Transformation” is a must-read entry into the gods on trial series. The sheer volume of detail the author is able to pack into a moderately paced narrative, from the metal organisms need for solar energy to stay alive to the impact uncovered memories can have on those who have transitioned into being a metal organism and so much more, mesh perfectly with the world building and character development that this author and the series has become known for and readers will be on the edge of their seats as every twist and turn leaves them breathlessly anticipating the third book in the series.
