THE REVIEW

This compelling, gripping dystopian sci-fi novel anthology is a standout. Told through five unique tales set within the same universe, the author does a fantastic job creating relatable, memorable characters in a haunting dystopian sci-fi setting. The author’s descriptive, powerful imagery brought each story to life, immersing readers in this unique world.

Compelling themes drive the entire book. The author captures the power struggles between the ruling elite and those in the middle and lower classes, mirroring much of our own world’s struggles. Combining this with a unique perspective on artificial intelligence by giving AI the capability to feel and experience human emotion and connect their struggles to those of the lower class adds a unique experience for readers to be able to not only view AI through a different lens, but to realize that sometimes those in power can be the architects of their own destruction. Looping in concepts of hope in a desolate time through imagery such as roses, or the power of individuality through memory and a time when those in power try to erase and conform, makes the stories even more compelling.

THE VERDICT

Gripping, compelling, and memorable, “EVE’S REBELLION: SEEDS OF DEFIANCE” by ANGELA NANCY is a must-read dystopian sci-fi anthology set in a distinct and memorable universe. The twists and turns these stories take, including the emotional exploration of one of these powerful elites and their role in the creation of this desolate system, will linger with readers and keep them invested as each story progresses.
